    The problem with infantry is that they are partly responsable for the lag on multiplayer maps but also because their use in our mod is a bit weird. Infantry men are supposed to be protected by tanks, not the opposite when they are used as human shield to absorb the enemy fire before armor units . The following report on Russian antitank tactics on the Eastern Front shows how infantry was used on both sides and also how Germans did their scouting work before tank attacks. It originally appeared in Tactical and Technical Trends No. 35, October 7, 1943. Based on translated Russian reports, the article deals primarily with the German tank attacks during the Kursk offensive in the summer of 1943: Preceding a concentrated tank attack the enemy conducted combat reconnaissance with small groups of infantry and tanks. This reconnaissance usually began 30 or 40 minutes before the attack. Enemy reconnaissance columns consisted of from 50 to 60 tanks and several self-propelled artillery guns on which infantry men were carried. These detachments were usually supported by 10 to 15 airplanes. As a rule the combat reconnaissance lasted not more than half an hour. In repulsing these groups the minimum of fire power was used in order to keep the main artillery positions concealed… The air force cleared the way for the tanks, and the tanks in turn cleared the way for the infantry… The main object of our infantry is to isolate the German infantry from their tanks, annihilate them, and protect our artillerymen from attacks. Our infantry has always remained intact when they do not leave the trenches as enemy tanks cross them. By remaining in the trenches they are able to separate enemy infantry from the tanks and also destroy infantry when it is tank borne One way or another, infantry should be rethinked and scouting could play a more important role in game but with some adjustements. DH & Korona had good ideas so its just a matter of time before we get the perfect alchemical . Then the question when the common metal will be transformed in gold? Answer: never...cause our tanks need it! :)

    Poor Germans

    Good analysis by DH and Korona. I would add this: Germans are the faction to beat during the early stage of the game because of 3 factors: 1) Their 88mm AT guns can massacre any group of early tanks 2) Stuka's squadron give the Germans the best ground support at this stage of the game 3) When used correctly the German Paradrops are really effective to get the lead with cash by capturing cities. Germans are the faction to beat at mid-game because of 2 factors: 1) Tiger availability: Soon after the Soviets increased their T-34 production, the Germans get access to the Tiger I & to Stug III G. At this period (we are at the end of 1942) Germans have many good Pz III L and some Stug IIIGs to use in front of the Tigers. No other faction have the German firepower at this stage. If the Tigers are used as sniper, they can blow up opponents tanks one by one. From august to december 42 the Germans build only 68 Tigers wich wasn't enough to have an impact on the wide Eastern Front. But this is different in Blitz where maps are relatively small and where every unit are important. 2) Diversity: Germany is the faction with the most wide range of option to conduct war wich make them really hard to guess right for their oppoenents. It could be played by focusing on mass production (StugIIIs, Panzer IVs, StugIVs, Hetzer later) or on heavier tanks (Tigers, Panthers, Jagdpanthers, Ferdinands, Kingtigers, Maus), or by mixing both. Germans have no great weakness, they have decent or good strength on the ground and by air. Germany is the faction to beat on latest stage of the game because of 4 factors: 1) No other faction can make non stop damage to opponent base without micromanaging and with a minimal amount of money. The V-1 is more than a psychological weapon. A small group of these flying bomb will hurt the enemy base whatever it is located and force him to use ressources and time to counter this harassment. 2) Like Korona and DH said the Hetzers are a late game bonus for the Germans cause they wont interrupt any of the other factories, allowing the Germans to build solid reserve divisions to support the front line units. 3) No other tank in game has a better "firepower vs cost" ratio than the Panther G. When you add one Befhel to the mixt you can have something really special here. But the "D" and "A" models are not the models you want, they cost more and took too much time to build. 4) The Luftwaffe jets are simply in a class beyond the competition. Contrary to the real Reich, the German player has the chance to stop any Allies bombing raids by building all the different jets he can. Ok thats it for now...in my next post i'll show you why the Soviets are the faction to beat at every stage of the game ;)

    Missions Help

    Leningrad is a cool mission Korona made thats why i can't tell you whats wrong here....Anyway an Add-on should follow in the next weeks. If theres any other bug just let us know. Thanks
  7. Thanks for the suggestion Eb12345 your idea is cool but like From Norway said, there would be many units to add to the mod but we had to make choices. We focus more on faction's strength and Germany's strenght was elsewhere than strategic bombing. We choosed to give Germans a good shot at all their jets developpment instead.
  8. Reinstall Blitz and this time check carefully where the download is going to install the game (for instance for me i had 2 times the word "program files" so the game was installed outside the ZH directory but inside the program files) ;)
  9. Tips for the Supply line mission: spread your tanks all along your truck convoy route and make sure Stukas are ready to help where the Soviets are trying to break the supply line ;)

    Favorite Units In Blitz?

    Tiger I & ISU-152..they are massive, have huge power and a cool audio when they shot ...The Pershing is also cool...A special mention to the sIG-33 Korona made, but this unit is only available during missions (Stalingrad & Kursk) ;)

  13. With the release of 22 missions maps I think it's time to give credit to some mappers and particularly those i used their works to build missions. Begining with the mission maps: German mission 2 (Crossing of the Bug River): A Pivac map with lots of transformations but i love the type of texture he use German mission 7 (Battle of Kursk) Partly Pivac map texture German mission 8 (Battle of Tankograd) Partly Pivac map texture German mission 9 (Operation Watch on Rhine): Cities are from Dr. Shrinker map:Pocket of Smolensk. His hability to build nice lil villages is very impressive Soviet mission 2 (Battle of Leningrad): A mission Korona made with lots of details, a nice and cool set up Soviets missions 7-8 (Kursk): Partly Pivac map texture Soviet mission 10 (Poland): A winter map using Capt.Miller nice set up and light effects Allies mission 1 (North African Campaign): Use a nice African map (Tobruk) Dr.Shrinker & Freedom made long time ago. About multiplayers maps i don't know all the creators, but i can name some of them and invite others tp post here. Maps are from: DirtyHarryTAT, Pivac, Dr.Shrinker, Comrade Raptorkov, hawk10314, Neo and others.... n.b. Last minute news: some of the multiplayers maps are now fixed with the patch release. Also a new map is now included: "Prokhorovka" from Pivac.

  16. Effectivement le temps de recharge est identique à celui des chars de la deuxième guerre. Les tanks soviétiques sont tous plus lents que les autres factions et ce, pour toutes sortes de raison dont celle que l'emplacement des obus à l'intérieur du char n'était pas dans le même compartiment que celui du canon, occasionnant des délais considérables entre les tirs. À l'opposé les chars Américains comme le Stuart M3, Shermans et autres possèdaient la cadence de tir la plus rapide, ce qui est également reproduit dans le jeu. S'ajoute à cela la vitesse de rotation de la tourelle, la précision des tirs, la portée du canon, la vitesse du char, les domages en fonction du calibre de l'obus, l'épaisseur et l'angle du blindage, le type de conception du blindage (avec des vis ou fondue en usine), etc ;)

The Soviets missions are: 1) The defense of Moscow 1941 2) The defense of Leningrad 1941 3) The defense of Stalingrad 1942 4) Operation Uranus part 1 5) Operation Uranus part 2 6) Operation Winterstorm 1942 7) The Battle of Kursk part 1 1943 8) The Battle of Kursk part 2 1943 9) The Battle of Smolensk 1943 10) Mission in Poland winter 1945 11) The Battle of Berlin 1945 The German missions are: 1) World War II begins 1939-1940 2) Barbarossa- The Bug River 1941 3) Barbarossa- Protect the supply line 1941 4) Operation Typhoon 1941 5) The Battle of Moscow 1941 6) The Battle of Stalingrad 1942 7) The Battle of Kursk 1943 8) The Battle of Tankograd 1944 9) Operation Watch on the Rhine winter 1944 And the Allies missions are: 1) The North African Campaign 1941-1942-1943 2) The Normandy Campaign 1944 These missions took almost 2 years to be completed. I would like to thanks those who tests these missions and provide me lots of feed backs: From Norway, Korona von Braun with is brillant ideas & Dirty Harry who tested all the missions (sometimes more than once), gave me full reports on bugs and lots of ideas to improve the final product.

    Il-2's In Game...suck :(

    What could be cool in a next patch would be to have the IL-2 3M model (with 37mm cannons) but with a very low accuracy level. Like i wrote before, these cannons were so innacurate that it was simply impossible to hit a simple target. They were used to shoot at multiple parked tanks, artillery and AA installations... ;)

    Mission Update

    It was just a matter of time. At the begining every faction was supposed to have around 10 missions each. Soviets and Germans missions were made first and only 2 Allies missions were completed when the official release happend. Two more Allies missions are on progress: The Battle of the Bulges and the Battle of Guadalcanal. So more Allies missions should follow during the next months..stay tuned

    Il-2's In Game...suck :(

    From 1941 to the end of the war the IL-2 used a VYa- 23mm cannon. They tried to upgrade the cannons but their attempt failed. The NS-37mm was a nightmare for the pilot: "From an overall point of view, the IL-2 3M had poor balance; this indefinitely lowered cannon accuracy. This major factor was amplified by the strong recoil of the cannons (37mm) during firing. Only the strong recoil of these cannons during firing posed difficulties in waging aimed fire at armored point targets such as tanks, SPG's" So they choosed to mass produce the IL-2s with 23mm cannons up to the end of the war. About Tigers, i doubt most of the losses were due to IL-2s on the Eastern Front. For instance at the Battle of Kursk very few Tigers were lost and these losses had different causes (AT, artillery, mechanical breakdown,etc). In game the IL-2 is best against medium tank and infantry, heavier armor having to be defeated by AT, artillery, tanks & heavy SPGs

    Yeah my guess is that it could happen with the Bofors too....On the missions it happend when many Vierlings were shooting at a single IL-2

    About units suddently blowing up. Can you check if this happens when many of your anti-aircrafts units are shooting at a same target (enemy aircraft)? When i made the missions i had to remove many of the flak Vierling because of this.
