Eh, about 13 clams, though, it was paid for by my employer, as I'm their IS guy. I have to evaluate Vista, you know. ;)

Core2 2.13GHz, 2G RAM, x1650 video, and X-Fi gamer, all in a brand new, and thoroughly gutted Dell 745. Used a new harddrive, so XP wouldn't affect it in any way by simply not being there. Not great, but sufficient for me. :)

I know it is only part of yo rsentence, but it is all I needed. I have the same card, and have yet to experience any issues with it.

I built a computer using Vista Business Edition, for the stripped down OS (doesn't even have Solitaire!) and networking. Ran the evaluator, and scored a 4.4 out of 5. A "decent rig". F.E.A.R., Company of Heroes, Half-Life 2 (with Iron Grip, a mod from Isotx), and now, CnC3 KE are all that is loaded, and it performs great with most things turned way up. I will post if I do expereince a Vista related reason to reboot a program or the whole comptuer, but otherwise, it's been a stable, friendly platform, and even the security is not as obtrusive as one might believe, as it only happens when I do something new, or system sensitive. I like Vista, so far, and all I use it for is Gaming.

If the Q&A Koen had was word-for-word transcribed, I felt that Amer Ajami was tired of fielding those questions and wanted Koen to go away. It reads with frustration from Amer Ajami, like he has had enough of the onslaught of requests and outright demands from the many persistent people in this community. Would not be surprised if he was just putting the seed of doubt in the works, knowing full well that the <insert demand here> was forthcoming, and probably sooner than later, just to get people off their back. Once <demand> was released, they'd smile knowingly, and folks would point a finger at them, waggling it, and they would have had a few moments peace and pulled a harmless fast one on 'them'. :P It also kind of made me feel bad for Koen, too, having to sit there and listen to someone who seemed obviously tired. I felt like Koen was being dismissed. Not sure which I'd back. The persistent guy wanting info, (I can see his side, for I, too, am curious and feel as flyby, for the main reason I'd have bought either game is modding and possibly won't buy both.), or the tired guy (not) giving info? I think both sides could use some more patience, though.

Those files have everything to do with running services for dll's, and there can be more than one running, if you have more than one set of services your computer requires. SVCHost has been attacked and virii have spoofed that service file, and caused much havoc, mostly slowdowns, since the services it is running are all online services for those virii to comminucate with. If you haven't used SpyBot and AdAware, then, I would suggest it. If you have, then, the issue may be elsewhere. Also, look up "HiJack This!". It'll tell you what is loading at bootup, and using that list and the help of many people at almost all PCTroubleshooting sites, they can tell you what should be loading, and what is nefarious. ;)

EaW made the list? Shows how successful marketing and well placed keywords, like 'Westwood', 'Star Wars', and 'Command and Conquer', can suck you in. Boy, and suck it did.

My son saved his money for a year in anticipation for this, and the moment the Gamecube version came out, we took him to buy it, and now, my daughter and wife are playing it, too. Three save slots means Bhones gets to wait to play, and has to leave the room when they do, so to not spoil it for myself. I like not knowing what to expect, or where to go. Family is busting to tell me, though. Keep telling them to just shut up. :P They laugh and taunt me. Go fig.

No, no, no. don't format both drives, or you will lose everything on your second drive, which is proabably used as stoarge. the network issue is simple. Windows doesn't have the right network card drivers, but can use a standard USB network driver, so, that's why it works. I'd wager that if you checked the hardware manager, you would see that the network card has a yellow exclamation point. Just download the driver from the network card manufacturer, and that'll take care of your network issues.

I've explored this idea. Here's aprevious post from my Journal: "I've been tossing around some ideas for new game modes, when I was asked by someone if I could make an Art of Defense map. Well, yeah, I can make an Art of Defense map. I investigated that mode, the maps, and found that the person who created them is very hostile about using his scripts. I looked at his scripting anyway, to see what was occuring. The scripted attacks and events always comes from the same place, at the same time, every time, at the exact scripted time they were predesigned to. This made the mode predictable and it quickly lost it's appeal after learning the sequence of events. I made something different. As soon as I have something to test, I'll post it to see what you all think. I'm calling it 'Enemy Inbound'. Difference between AOD and EI: - EI maps are VERY small, allowing for much more detail and terrain definition. - EI has preplaced buildings to capture and uses the Capture Building ability to get structures - EI enemies enter the maps from outside the playable area - EI enemies can emerge from any side of the map; left, right, top, or bottom: - EI enemies don't attack for first three minutes to allow the player time to capture structures and create units and defensive structures - Enemy enters map at random entry points - Never the same game twice - Mod based (No vanilla ZH) Right now, it only plays in Survival Mode, meaning you only have to survive for 15 minutes. Well, the first paragraph was totally laden with sarcasm. No, not the good kind, either. The next section dealt with making judgements from screenshots, something I abhor since it deals nothing with gameplay. For me, as long as it plays well, I could care less how it looks. I've played some damn good looking games that were awful. Doom 3, anyone? "How about something that applies here, Bhones?". Empire at War. Made by ex-Westwood employees? And there's a cry from many who think they should have been given the reigns for CnC3? I shudder to think. The rest of it is to basically to lambast and insult those who are working on the game, implying they are old, lazy, greedy, uneducated, unimaginative, and unskilled. All keywords that would get the masses of EA haters frothing at the mouth and demanding the blood of their children. The post was a useless rant. I wouldn't presume to conceive of his motives for making such a post. I love that once he was called on it, his replies were as if to proclaim himself to be some sort of King of the Sardonic Dance.
