    Question...

EULA = End User Licence Agreement. In theory, you agree to everything in it before installing the game. But as products go, if you disagree, no shop will take it back as technically it isn't faulty and thus they are not obliged to. And you cannot see/read the EULA before you buy the game either. In effect, you are ass-raped without the courtesy of a reach-around, and ppl stand for it because "it's only a computer game". Great, isn't it?

    Got 2.5 Working... I Think

RA2YR is hardcoded to only allow one turret. The other things have prolly been already been tweaked anyway, as the staff are on a *much* later veriosn thatthe current public version.

You know, I nearly posted a link for it. But since it was the first fucking link that Google threw up, I thought that maybe you could do just one thing for yourself. Remember, Google is your friend...

No, not really. Frontline was made publicly available, and still exists. Thus, the ww2 mod "Frontline" for RA2 is still in use. So leave it alone, and don't go stealing it please.

    Music

    1) You can mute the ingame music and play your own in the background... Voila, problem solved. 2) Yes, they look different because the older beta is currently the only one available for download. the screenies are from the Staff beta, and so are currently only available to staff. IMO Blitz needs an FAQ, as I'm sure the same questions keep getting asked!

    We're Still Alive!

Yes, because television documentaries are usually so unbiased, accurate and reliable... Seriously, TV documentaries are best for watching footage of hard-to find film. Their info is usually poor as (surprising for some ppl perhaps) their main purpose is to get TV ratings, not to diseminate information.

    We're Still Alive!

I agree with Mig, though I also think the bridge sections should look chunky and cracked, rather than their current plastic appearance; in that pic they seem dented and bent to me.

    We're Still Alive!

Yeah, much better. Coupla things *really* stand out IMO though: > RA2 Oil Derrick... Nuff said. Ditto Warehouses. > Bridge repair huts. IMO, even the TS ones would look more appropriate. > Bins. They didn't have wheeled dumpsters for loading mechanically onto a rubbish truck back in the 40's... > Statues. There must be loads that you can donload and convert from free 3d modelling sites, and applying a suitable texture should be quite easy. I think the additional variety would be good, and fit in better too. > Churches/cathedrals. Same as above. > Paving still very dominant. could you lighten it perhaps? Not only would it look dominate visually less, but it would contrast better against the roads too. > Last but not least, the Command Bunkers no longer fit with anything else at all. Any chance you could redo them, even if it just along a similar design? I think your new stuff is all much, much better.

Personally, I was always surprised that the Panzerleid never mad the mod...

    D-day?

As a Staffer on both mods, I can only agree with this is the strongest possible terms :).

    Models

It is because you have an earlier version of the mod than the current (staff-only) version. When the new version is publicly released, you will have all the units/buildings appear (and behave) as in the more recent screenshots...

    Hero Unit

I guess you've never heard of Richard Marcinko then? Okay, he's not technically a "Rambo", but he could be considered a "Colonel Burton" kinda character without too much difficulty...

I know he meant at range, hence his "Generals-style" comment. In EBFD, Harkonnen Flame Troopers are given heavier armour to give them a better chance of closing with the enemy (even Atreides and Fremen snipers need two shots). I thought that if such an idea were implemented, Blitz flametroopers could either be faster of have heavier armour to improve thier chances of assaulting a building. Still, flames and flamethrowers have other issues in RA2YR, and that IMO is why they are better left out. Not because they can't evict troops from buildings (even if it isn't "Generals-style").

I know I'm horribly late with this, but flamer troops could empty buildings in RA2YR.

Wow, this really is the dumbest topic topic I've seen for a long while. At least now when ppl ask me why I hate "Off-topic" forums so much, I can just point them to this sort of immature drivel with a neat little link.

    F-5e Skin

What doesn't make sense to me is how: 1 ) You are so very good at accurate modelling after only 14 hours. 2 ) You claim the models are "low poly", and even after correcting yourself on the poly-count (from 800 to 8000), you are still out by a further factor of 10. 3 ) You seem to know very little about military units, and yet have managed to get extraordinarily accurate markings and camo on the skins. 4 ) You still cannot own up, despite the fact that your claims: <a> Imply that at least three different artists have stolen your work and have had it distributed for several years at a series of well-known sites. <b> None of the three models you have posted up are made by the same person (different ppl each have a style of modelling, just as ppl have different styles of drawing, ect). 5 ) You seem to think that nobody would notice or care, and that we would all be in awe of your "talent" without realising that it wasn't your work.

I wouldn't waste my time setting this thief any projects to "prove" that he made the models he's pimped so far <_< . I even found THE EXACT SAME RENDER of the F-5 here: http://www.3dm-mc.com/modelsbank/details.p...93523ed48674ccd Given the extraordinary coincidence of EVERY SINGLE detail in each of his models to those that can be downloaded off the'net, I smell the distinctive scent of BS surrounding his claims. I've even half a mind to send Blackbird's pix off to the respective sites and see if the authors recognise their own work. Frankly, I think ppl here have been kind to even give Blackbird the benefit if the doubt. Personally, I'd have banned his sorry ass, and emailed his details (including his IP address) to other CnC sites so that they are alerted. @Blackbird: Theft is theft. Stealing somebody else's hard work and parading it around as your own is a big deal. The very least you can do if you have any self-respect is own up to your misdeeds.

Actually, the Iranians and the Iraqis both misused much of their more advanced weapons systems in the recent wars they have had. You can read accounts of the Iran-Iraq war (the First Gulf War), and see the comments and observations there for yourself. I appreciate you may have the sides sorted out, and was only giving you my opinion. Sorry if I insulted your decisions in any way.

    Frustration

Welcome to the forum :) Yes, I'm afraid that YR is also needed to play Blitz. This is because there is lots of logic in YR that isn't in RA2, and which Blitz makes use of. Garrisoning, gatling and opentop transports are examples of the coding in YR that Blitz makes use of.

You're (sorta) right there, but please realise that not everyone here at DS is a "kid military buff". Some of us (*cough*) do have access to Janes, books and other sources, and do actually know what we are talking about. "Futuristic" projects are always hard to get reliable info on though, as until they are actually serving in the armed forces, anything could happen. That said, I really don't think it matters what tank Iraq gets TBH. You could give them all Leopard 2s and they wouldn't be more effective. Thus I feel it is better to keep the force more realistic. You see, the Iraqis tended to use the tanks they had incorrectly, and by failing to use the more sophisticated aspects of their unit, they effectively reduced the range and accuracy of their weapon to WW2 standards. They also had a tendancy to dig in many of their tanks, and treat them more like support artillery, thus losing any mobility. North Korea is (reputedly) better organised, drilled in Sino-Soviet combat doctrines, has actually faced its main adversary (the USA) before and survived with the lessons they learnt. NK may have outdated equipment like Iraq, but at least they know what they are supposed to do with it, and understand how to get the most from their vehicles. This is of course just brushing the surface, and there are many other factors to take into consideration. I'm simply trying to point out that "leveling" the sides with modern Russian equipment wouldn't necessarily be the best idea. I realise that AAoW isn't super-realistic, but was under the impression that it was more realistic than Generals is? Even if its set in 2012, it would be better IMO if the sides and units were balanced in some way that allows the involved nations to use likely equipment, rather than artificially boosting the weaker sides with advanced units. Consider this: Ingame, the US Abrams takes twice as long to build and costs twice as much as an Iraqi T-55. About three or four T-55s are needed to knock out an Abrams. Thus, with some careful micro, the US still has an armour advantage in tanks, but the Iraqis have a fair chance with their T-55s. This is both fair, and more realistic than giving the Iraqis T-90s. If this still isn't to your liking, you could allow some small advances in technology that keep the identity of the forces, and also reflect the passing of eight years. For example, allowing Iraq to have the T-72 instead, or having the old T-55s fire a modified AT-11 Sniper missile after an upgrade at the WF. There are other ways to balance of course, but that was just a straightforward example. :)

    Stryker And Bradley

...The two units do almost exactly the same job? Aside from meaning that it entails redoing work already done (delaying things further), you actually want to pay a General's Point to get a unit that does the same job as a standard unit that you can already build? Call me crazy, but that strikes me as the dumbest argument I've seen for a while (no offence). Having two units that are the same/do the same job is pointless enough in any game, but to forgo other special abilites to duplicate a unit choice just seems daft... If there are to be Generals (as there are in ZH), to have one of them use the Stryker instead of the Bradley seems more reasonable. But even so, it may still not be worth it if there are other more important things that need doing. Again, I apologise if this seems in any way flamebait; it isn't meant to be. I just don't think that ppl have actually thought this through objectively. C'mon ppl, lets think with our brains this time, shall we?
  25. Major_Gilbear

    Stryker And Bradley

This seems pretty pointless TBH. Anybody who doesn't have to do the work themselves/doesn't realise the work involved, will always vote for the option(s) to have everything. Thus a poll choosing BETWEEN the two units would be much more conclusive in regards to ppl's preference. Next up, I get the impression that this has already been discussed before (several times) and the answer was "No" to the inclusion of the Stryker. So why would the modmakers change their mind?
