Mini Patch: Those With 5.0

Until we release 6.0 with the IEs all fixed, feel free to download and place this version of the AImd.ini in your RA2 directory. This should fix the IE caused by the computer using the Vinifera Missle Superweapon.

 

Remember, if you plan to play someone online with this, make sure they have the .ini in their directory as well. If they don't, point them here to download it.

Euh.. The fix didn't fix the missle fire when the AI launches it... Placed it in before the game was launched (the YR program) and with superweoponz on, but the game crashed as soon as the AI's missle was ready T_T

I have tried to do it a second time, but IE again =_=

I used v5.0.

 

Nvm, I think it only happened the first time.

Looks dead here in 2013? Shame too, would of liked to see it at least fully done. I can't download mini-patch site claims I don't have permission to view it? Still have 5.0 though. Be nice to see the unique music in it released under a Creative Commons thing (Non-Commercial of course :P ). jamendo (com) would be a good place to for it.

 

Edit: Another idea, could instead do a entire game around AR2? Could be open-source and could use warzone2100 and work off it.

Wow, I can't believe this place is still around, after what, 10 years? I would definitely be interested in reviving AR2 if the next C&C ever comes out.

You might want to consider an indie game altogether - the industry has changed quite a lot since the old days =]

I would love to, tbh, but my availability is very uncertain until June next year. Can you keep me in mind if this goes forward? I haven't used msn in a long time - is there another way we can keep in touch?

My availability is pretty limited as well, and it will take me some time to learn how to make the graphical assets and for OpenRA to catch up with all the TS/RA2 functions, so I think it will take a while to get this going.

 

I just made this model from one of the old concept arts after learning Blender for a week ... hopefully I will get better at it and be able to make something more sophisticated.

Ha. Fancy being bored at work, and coming back to this page after all this time to find that the AR2 forums has activity from like...an hour ago.

 

AR2 was pretty formative for me as a young modder/game designer and I still remember it fondly. I echo Mad Ivan's sentiment about making it a full indie game, but any kind of revival would be pretty cool.

 

My time is super-limited these days (Ironically making an indie game successor to ATW, which if you remember the old version of was based in the setting of AR2), but if you needed any assistance, I'd be happy to help where able --- whether that would be design, balance, testing or just someone to bounce ideas off of.

 

My availability is pretty limited as well, and it will take me some time to learn how to make the graphical assets and for OpenRA to catch up with all the TS/RA2 functions, so I think it will take a while to get this going.

They seem to be experiencing a bug where having a lot of AI players causes the game to lag. I think I know what's causing it and maybe how to fix it, but that's based on just looking at the code on GitHub - I don't have a PC to compile and try things out ATM.

 

I might have a clearer picture of what my availability is in a few weeks - I'll make sure to keep you updated :-)

I'd be interested in helping out with graphics if you decide to revive the mod - I was the project lead / lead artist for PreRA2. AR2 was my favorite mod back in the day.

I think I may try to put some .shp from the old AR2 in openRA and see if I am successful. The last openRA build I tried didn't handle palettes quite well.

Does any one still have that aimd.ini fix? It does not seem to exist any more... And I kind of wanted to play some AR2 for good old memories.
