Casino Royale

Who else here has seen it and agree's with me in saying it is possibly one of the best Bond movies ever. I was loving every minute of it, even the title sequence which normally bore me to death in previous bond movies.

Thoughts?

I saw it last night. It's definitely better than the Brosnan era films, but it's no From Russia With Love or Goldfinger. I give it a 7/10, -3 for not making a damn bit of sense after Le Chiffre or whatever captured them.

I think they should've drawn out the Le Chiffere plotline a bit more, that last twist at the end seemed almost gratuitious. I was sort of uneasy about Craig as a no-gadget Bond, but he is indeed better in the role than Brosnan, Moore, or Dalton ever was. Fight sequences were great, especially that whole sequence in Madagascar. I also liked how they pushed the Adriatic setting, this ought to give something of a boost to the Montenegro tourist industry. I approve; 8/10.

I've read some of the reviews for it, I'm really surprised at how well it's doing. Probably go see it over the holiday break coming up.

*SPOILER WARNING*****

lol, beginning scene was so intense, jumping around the construction site. And it was so reminiscent of the first golden eye scene when he ran through the embassy getting shot at, and when he escaped and blew the propane tanks up.

Cracking movie, except:

1) It was far too predictable. I mean, i spent 20 mins actively looking for how the treasury girl was going to die... looking at the corner of the screen for a gunship coming into view or something.

2) The product placement... for example "Thats a nice watch, [is it] a Rolex?" "No, it's an OMEGA"

Meh, that doesnt bother me too much. It has virtually no product placement in comparison to The Island

Or Blade Trinity - that movie was just a non-stop commercial for Hot Topic, Ipod, Apple Laptops and GMC.

That, and everytime buttgirl pulled out that laserbow thing, I thought I was watching Star Trek and expected to see Warf walk in.

I can't believe Bond gets killed at the end <_<

Yeah, guess that's it for the Bond films. He finally gets it on with Money Penny, M walks in and shoots both of them.

Admit, the way he adressed M was just great.

Been doubting, wether this is the best Bond film I saw, or the worst.

Bond just made sense. The actor just made sense. He bled a bit too much, but hell, he made sense as Bond, more then Brosnan.

*should watch Goldfinger again*

Shame of the Aston Martin really. I saw it coming, and I litterally whispered "I'm in love..."

;)

I just got back from seeing the movie, it was really great.

it was very different, no gadgets, no cars (except the aston martin, but all it came with was a pistol and a defibralator) not much shooting and a bit less sex. Movie was about the plot for once...

Anyhow, I was very happy, if the movie needed more of anything it was automatic weapons and explosions. 9/10.

Just saw it over the weekend, great movie. The ultimate weird thing about it for me was that the action sequences bored me. I'd have to rate it as one of the best, if not the best.

Side-note, were they hinting at SPECTRE?

La Chiffre was obviously part of a larger organization, so it's possible.

I liked that it avoided the traditional Bond formula and tropes, even if it didn't entirely succeed in making a good movie.

The parkour section at the beginning was neat, even if some things (jumping through the window above the door) were blatant rip-offs ("homages", maybe).

I loved the hard-ass, emotionally-dead Bond. That's the way Bond should be. A little tiresome that they went through the whole spy-who-decides-to-give-up-his-job-to-be-with-his-new-love routine, but the end seemed to imply that now that it's out of the way, they won't be doing it again anytime soon. "The bitch is dead." Awesome (and straight from Fleming).

"Don't worry, you're not my type."

"Smart?"

"Single."

Hahaha. Bond is a bastard, and that's the way it should be.
