MIDEAST CRISIS 2 is looking for some additional team members, mostly to fill specialized roles on the team. Do we NEED them filled? Nope, but getting them filled will help ease the workload on the rest of the team and speed up the push to release.

If you can help out, please do. While I love the mod, and am very proud of our work...I also happen to enjoy sleeping occasionally.

What is MEC2?

MEC2 is a total conversion for 'Command and Conquer 3' and features several factions (the IDF, Guardians of Islam, and the UN Peacekeepers) which players will be able to use to pet kittens and host tea parties.

Obviously I'm kidding but MEC2 is a complicated thing, so here is a very brief list of ingredients:

6 parts C&C: Generals remake

4 parts neo-Crusade story elements

4 parts Starcraft faction and unit design

2 parts Red Alert 2 unit design

4 parts Blitzkrieg 2 (mod) resource system

2 parts Dawn of War/Company of Heroes resource system

2 parts "what the hell is that?"

1 part MEC1 (sorry, MEC1 fans...this is different)

Or, you could just think of it as "C&C Generals with balls".

If you're the type who requires pretty visual aids, click the image below to see some of those.

Why Join?

One of the first things I personally look for when joining a mod team is the quality of the team. I look for a team that is dedicated, talented and which will help me grow my skills with. With a veteran mod team composed of modders who've been part of some of the most popular and successful RTS mods it is assured that you get that.

Another thing that I look for is if the mod will even be released, the ratio of mods started to mods actually released is incredibly low. MEC2 will be released, and it will be released soon. The fact that we have most of the mod done, before we even posted elsewhere asking for help is proof of our dedication.

The last (and most important) thing I tend to look for is if a mod is any good. I'm just a bit biased, so I'll just let a few quotes on our past games speak for it.

Blitzkrieg 2

“Professional production values and lots of online community support make Blitzkrieg II more than worth a little bandwidth.” – Game Informer

"...the economic system does not promote peaceful co-existance or resource-shepherding hermitage. It promotes expansion and constant action." – PC Gamer

MidEast Crisis 1

“MidEast Crisis is a finely tuned masterpiece of nitty gritty modern combat…” – PlanetCNC

“The finished mod can easily be mistaken for a professionally developed product.” – PC Gamer

Positions Available

Ok with that out of the way, onto the spots we have open!

AI Coder

Ok, not technically a "coder" but a scripter who edits the XML's to get the AI working. The tricky part will be in figuring out how to get the AI to work convincingly in a mod that doesn't use anything remotely like Tiberium for its resource.

Rigger

I'm not going to lie, but this is a lot of repetitive, easy work. The challenge and fun is in creating the damage states, since some of the objects will have some elaborate ones. Note: Needs to be able to read 3dsmax9 files (sorry, 6, 7 and 8 aren't compatible).

Particle FX Artist

I really wanted to do this myself, but as I stated earlier...human limitations exist so if I could find someone to jump on to help make fun things like; more awesome explosions, extremely graphic infantry deaths, and so on...it would be great. :) Note: I need someone who can edit the particle fx XML's, as well as make at least placeholder models/textures where needed.

Animator

This spot needs someone who can do things as easy as making objects spin, to complicated building deploying. Note: Needs to be able to read 3dsmax9 files (sorry, 6, 7 and 8 aren't compatible).

Video Composer

First up: For the love of god, do not apply if the depth of your video creating experience involves cutting Naruto footage to the tune of a Linkin Park song. Ideally, I'd love to get some sort of film student here to help us do some nice trailers/campaign videos.

Graphic Artist

Like drawing up awesome company logo's and advertisements? Fantasize about what types of ads McBurger Kong would use in reality? We could put you to work!
