GrimDon 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 It is sad, especially with the price of ram and other supplies so cheap. Upgrading is easy, and takes very little time. And with the excellent mods out there, dropping the $35 for Generals Deluxe ( includes Zero Hour) is a shame not to do.
Tycoon-Master 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Acrualy generals is around $30 and Zero Hour is around $20 (Including 15% Tax in Canada) So actually the game is roughly $50  That's new to me

Eisenhower 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2004 (edited) Ok, I'll make a point to complain no more. Goodness, 15%. I'm haunted by it. EDIT Adn what on earth is VAT? It's a freaking 21%? Edited June 3, 2004 by Eisenhower
flyby 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2004 Value Added TAX or VAT. the tax differs slightly from country to country in Europe, but the principle is vallid for all Europe. It is a tax that is added to everything you buy as end user. If you're a professional, you can recuperate the VAT, so that the net result is 0%. example: if you buy a pc here , there is 21% added to the base price. If I buy it, I also pay 21% more, but I can reduce the VAT I have (from my invoices) to pay with VAT of all the things I bought that had VAT included. The result is that I pay 0% VAT. But that's only appliable for things that can be related to my profession. I can 't deduce the 21%VAT on the coffee machine I bought for my wife... My car is only partially deducable because it is partially used for private purpose also...

BoB 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 what annoy me is that here in the UK at least the tax is included and you dont have to worry about it. when i go to the USA i pick up somethin labelled 15 bucks and i get to the checkout and have to pay 17 or whatever!!! flyby 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 Strangely but true, there is also a positive side on paying a lot of taxes: Social healthcare is pretty cheap here, schools are free, roads are well maintained, most governmental services are free, education for unemployed, limited financial aid for those without a job, etc... When I broke both legs 2 years ago, I only paid 15% of the hospital invoice from my own pocket. As long you get something in return for the tax you pay there is no real problem. This is what's called socialism according Scandinavian model: every one pays a bit, so that everyone can access the goods and services they have right on. In a more liberal model, like in the US, you don't pay as many taxes, but whenever happens something to you, you have to pay through the nose. In many cases people just can't afford hence have to let go the healthcare they would actually need.
BoB 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 lol good in theory and Scandinavia, but here in Britain we pay 17.5% and the NHS is still crap, the streets are shoddy and dirty, and MPs spend £10million on a defensive screen in Parliament which they then let people sit infront of anyway!!! But the good thing its only 15 cents on a dollar so thats good. . .and that would help 100% more when buying something, if they only only put the acually price on the tag. . .I never thought of that
