EvilViking 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2005 The pride of the United States Air Force, the F/A-22A will be deployed on both Air Force bases, and naval carriers, like the VCN72 USS Lincoln. The F/A-22 is a stealthy aircraft, armed with both anti-ground and anti-air weapons. The Raptor will only be available to the Air Force General, and in certain missions where it will be carrier-based.
Terranova270 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2005 (edited) Now why in the devil would you put that thing on a carrier? Nice model BTW, looks better than Generals. Edited March 1, 2005 by Terranova270

Rapier 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2005 SWEET! :D But the pilot looks kind of small, nice cameo (Air Superiority multi-tone gray) And no Opals the F-22A isn't carrier capable the F-35 is, so that brings up the question, why IS it on a carrier?
Terranova270 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2005 Awesome! And yes, the F22 has a carrier variant. ^_^ No it doesn't. The F/A-22 is only required by the USAF. The Raptor is no where even close to being capable of even landing on a carrier. The Navy itself is intereseted into the F-35C JSF.
AshJW 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2005 Plans for a naval version, intended to replace the F-14, with extensive changes to make the aircraft suitable for carrier use, have been shelved. -Some website. but who knows, with Iraq and North Korea they may have been put back into production. EvilViking 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2005 Officially, yes. But, the Navy is still interested in making a carrier-capable F-22. As An Act of War is based in the future, we're simply going on the assumption that sometime before 2012, they decide to go forward with it. I think that does it for that discussion. ;)

It doesn't really have to be True War. However its almost as bad as promoting Flying Tungsakas for sake of "Its a game". If you catch my drift... Edited March 1, 2005 by Terranova270
EvilViking 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2005 I don't see how it could be anywhere near that unrealistic, as it is based off of an actual program! The United States Air Force originally planned an order of 750 ATFs, with production from 1994. Following the 1990 Major Aircraft Review, production was to begin in 1996 for a total of 648 aircraft. By 1994 the figure stood at 442 planes for service entry in 2003/2004. Based on the F/A-22, the swing-wing NATF was proposed for the U.S. Navy to replace the F-14 Tomcat, though the program was subsequently cancelled in 1993. Note that "ATF" stands for advanced tactical fighter, meaning the test version of the F/A-22. All we're saying is, maybe the Navy hasn't lost interest. We can do that, it's alternate reality. ;)

EvilViking 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2005 I got an email today I thought might help clarify the confusion over F-22s on aircraft carriers: Hello again. You might want to post on your forum page for the F-22 Raptor that it was going to replace the F-14D Tomcat on the US Navy's aircraft carriers but the program was scrached due to a cut in the Navy's budget. It was classified as the F-22N Raptor. The idea is still with the Chief of Naval Operations Air directorate but it has been publicly announced that the F/A-18E Super Hornet (single-seat version) with replace the Tomcat and the F/A-18F Super Hornet (two-seat version) will replace the F/A-18C and D Hornet although the USN is still considering to build a test squadron. Thanks for reading this, Lt. Commander Cam Clanchy USN So, ingame, the naval F/A-22 will have a differant designation (F/A-22N), and a differant texture, of course. FECrtn2 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2005 Blue navy camo....? :D BTW, did he specify weather the F-22 was made more rigid to take carrier landings? Because if Im not mistaken, the F-22 has a much higher landing speed than a F-18 or F-14.....
