If you can use the software and become an indie developer and somehow make people buy your games then its kick ass. Some really original ideas came from indie development, and they are fun to play, ok graphicly they can't stand up to the behemoths but you can get the tribes 2 engine for about £60 to use for your game. It might be out of date but its a great starting point (unless you somehow screw up/have a bad idea or something). Also, if your extreamely good it can get you into the main games development business, same if your extreamely good at modding or skinning and such as such.

Well, AOE isen't the most and in my own words 'gameplay advanced' game ever made. Sure it has ragdoll physics but its just like every other RTS game but with pretty graphics. Graphics does not make the game, the gameplay does. Many games have crap graphics but come out with amazing gameplay.

Whenever civilazation is created, theres going to be a time when it falls apart. Sorry if this sounds racist but white civilazations were always the ones to fall apart first, and quickly some did not even last 100 years. Now in my eyes a sucessful civilazation needs to last more then 100 years because alot can happen in 100 years, and if your civilazation lasts less then, it truely failed. All the great empires and civilazations lasted more then 100 years (if this is not true please tell me PLEASE!), the first civilazation was in iraq (i think it was im not to sure) and it lasted. Considering that many ancient empires and civilazations were technologically advanced (for the time) without them, the world would be differnt and humans might not even exist (bit too drastic). My rubbish opinion has been said, ok there we go. Have a free slice of pie.
