Official V2.0 Iraq Suggestions Thread

Hello, everyone! As our next staff alpha is now complete, over the next three weeks, the entire faction of Iraq will be coded. So, if you have any ideas, now is the time!

 

Remember, a lot has already been changed, so your idea might have already been implimented. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread once I get back on July 18th.

We're going to work on that as Garrick codes everything in in the next 3 weeks. We could use one of several ideas right now. :)

It would kick ass if the Iraqis got the MiG-29 to supplement the SU-37 for their airforces. MiG-29's could be less expensive but be not as powerful as the SU-37. Basically it could be a support fighter.

Garrick, I know theres a period of time that a body can lay around on the map before it disappears. If a POW truck happens upon a body before its removed from the map would that work as far as aquiring POWs?

:S i dunno, i dunno exactly how the whole POW thing works, we'll just have to wait and see...and then watch it on screen and go "woah, awsum"

I think if certain sorts of iraqi infantry can have the ability to camouflage themselves under civilian identity, it would make the game much more unique and interesting. This would be much like the spy analogy in red alert. However once they shoot, their artificial 'disguise' would wear off. Or similarly being detected by special forces units from any side.

that is the fedayeen, the problem is that the logic of the bombtruck works only on vehicles AFAIK, but i'll try it anyway and if it works, USA, North Korea and Chinese Generals: watch your back! ;)

if it fails will be stealthed, and in any case armed with Ak47 and RPGs(probably random spawned unit, like the technical chassis

i was planning on making the RPG 101% realistic, no homing, LOL, it will be able to hit choppers though, but if the chopper keeps moving...

about POWs: we were thinking about making them similar to PRO:Gen but some of our infantry don't have surrendering anims and also the whole, take a prisoner and execute him would take too much effort for too little result.

so you will have POW executions and torturing, but you will not have the capture, we will just presume that the POWs have been captured elsewere, so the POW truck will probably not be in, maybe as eye-candy or singleplayer only unit

Umm the animations for the prisoners could be just pilots animations, but with slower movements and different texturings.

that is the smaller problem, is the whole, take a prisoner and execute him,

just to get the execution to work, well' have to use dozens of modules and probably end up with a buggy structure, really, coding that would be a pain in the ass even for the master coders of DS (much superior to me)

I think they already have. The republican guards. And there is even a Special republican guard general.

 

I checked up on the BTR-T. That thing is badass. It makes the BMP look like a piece of shit. :lol:

You get the T-55 upon building the war factory, and you get to have the T-72 from a prerequisite (structure or generals skills).

 

Yeah, the Brits were able to capture lots of abandoned T-55s back in the Iraq War. So I guess I won't sound like a retard if I suggested this one. :lol:

no outdated things, remeber, AAOW is in an alternate timeline were operation Iraqi Freedom NEVER happened, Iraq has rebuilded very much and has state of the art sino-indegnous-russian(very few, export version mainly) technology

Helicopters cant take 4 rockets! it should be one RPG and there outta there! and for balance just throw in invisible counter measures (loadsa ppl have suggested this) so cn it be done?

Take into account gameplay, blowing a few thousand credits on a helicopter only to see it shot down by a rocket soldier bought for around 300 credits; not fun ;)

Since Act of War seems to be edging towards a middle ground between realism and fun gameplay, I think 4 rockets is fair, but aircraft should have countermeasures....ones that look like the real thing.

Hey if you want realism go play TW2! I don't want two mods exactly the same because who will want AAOW? It dosn't have as many units as TW2. There are some things in life that just cannot be added such as Fear Factor.

 

Hey have you heard the story about the Abrams that was hit by two HEAT and one Sabot? It only had a few dents in it. Thats three hits, and the Sabot was fired from 400m! Do you think this can be put into the SAGE engine? A T-72 can only put dents in an Abram in certain conditions?

 

TW2 is realism! Is best it can be. In my opinion realism shouldn't even be an option only Mixed and Cnc gameplay.
