    Map Overhaul

Well if it is not for you, that's fine. But technically separate game modes are not needed for Assault, especially in your case where you are completely controlling what maps appear in what game mode, and because the maps are exclusive to AR2. You could just put Assault versions of your maps at the end of the map lists in your existing game modes. If you are at all interested then I'm willing to do the conversions for you guys. It only takes me a few minutes per map, and can be done purely by text editing. I'm not sure if this type of game is right for AR2, but that's up to you to decide ;)

    Map Overhaul

http://assault.cannis.net Obviously you can't use these, instead your AR2 maps would have to be converted.

    The 'letter' On Cncden

But are we taking his view seriously or are we dismissing it because he isn't a modder, and therefore "not part of the community"? Because I think he is part of the community whether he mods or not. Whose fault is it that he's horribly uninformed? Once one has put up a website to promote a project, isn't it also a responsibility to inform people like him what the project is about and why it is unique?

    Map Overhaul

Would you like to implement one or more Assault type modes?

    Lmao Ea

It's not the fact that there are bugs, or issues, or whatever you want to call them. Every game has something going on, sometimes they get fixed, and sometimes they don't. The infuriating thing is the EA guy saying how everyone should be damned grateful that they got what they got. It's the attitude that's outrageous. Delphi pulled the same attitude with Yuri's Revenge. For some odd reason, EA PR people can't seem to grok that "the customer is always right".

    The 'letter' On Cncden

I figured starting this topic would help me get a feel for the forum. It's been very educational so far ;) That's a great straight line, I can think of about 3 good funny comebacks that would flame about 90% of the respondents in this thread... but, I'll let it go  Well that goes back to why Generals was made in the first place. IMO its blatant attempt to capitalize on current events was in bad taste... sort of like making a 'War in Europe' game in 1942 or a 'War in the Pacific' game in 1943. People living at the time would probably not be amused. I think any sort of war game should either be a re-enactment of events that are historically old enough to put in perspective, or else be fantasies of future war, or just plain fantasy. Current events can be an inspiration, as you pointed out they are for these mods, but I think the concept of good taste vs bad taste shouldn't be forgotten either. Which is why Blitz II was a natural, because it corrected the problem of bad taste by switching the scenario to the "historically old enough" from the too-close-to-home bad taste game that is stock Generals. One thing that I did not comment on at CNCDEN was that someone said the letter was the view of someone on the "outside looking in". What do you guys think of that?

    The 'letter' On Cncden

You know, the one where the guy said there's too many realistic warfare mods, and they should all share assets (so they'd apparently all really be clones of each other, like he says they are now). I just posted a long-winded thing there in reply. What do you guys think? Or did I piss you all off also

Signatures seem to be a potential way to circumvent the rules though. Leaving the only opportunity for rebuttal to be also in a signature.
