That's just the tip of the iceberg. Many old people who actually saw the war have a positive opinion of Mussolini's era. But then, i'd have to go throught a textwall to explain the average italian mindset, wich is something Europeans cannot believe. I'll try to sum it up in a few sentences however. Take the Mafia's way of operating and living. Place this mindset in a legal frame and you get the average Mario Rossi. In the southern parts of italy for example, IT IS NORMAL for standard mail containing precious goods like DVDs, videocameras and the like to be opened up in the post office and robbed by the very clerks. Public service CEOs wich drove our railway system to collapse (it is costly and unefficient, with dirty trains with the occasional flea colony that have delays pretty much every day and also thinking of using a night train to get anywhere is suicidal) dismissed with gigantic sums of money, only to be convocated in other companies, to ruin them again. 80% of italian companies are in conflict of interest because cross-membership is multiple boards of administration is the norm. Everything in italy runs on favors and personal "friendship" ties, like in an african third world country. Do you have similar problems up there? I wouldn't believe it.

On topic I'm (somewhat) relieved that italy is not the only european country this intollerant towards homosexuals. Given the trend however, i expect her to be kicked out of the EU very soon as fascism is clearly coming back.

Serious take on anime? Don't joke. It could have been done way better without having to rip from every friggin anime, they came across wich resulted in trying to mix Macross/Robotech with friggin Naruto ninja. I know, Naruto it's the current spearhead of anime in the west but there are way better things to get inspiration from. I would have died to have soldiers like this man (that's a 20mm Anti-Tank Rifle) as Japan's anti tank unit instead of the idiotic burrowing laser peasants we got (and i think that the average CNC fan would have liked it better than the Tank Hunter unit). Japan's bipedal vehicle units maybe would have looked better had they been inspired from Front Mission wich would have been way better than doing the current mecha-circus (quietly forgetting the fact that Japanese culture tends to anthromorphize things.) And now what happens? Sentai(power rangers) female archers and flying heads. No, this is not a serious take of anime, they just went to a random anime site, picked up the most viewed series according to it and then ripped concepts from there mixing it with a buttload of the pseudo-sengoku mentality that the west thinks is still all the rage in japan (it is not, by any chanche) with no internal coherence. The other sides, while having less coherence than previous installments, at least have it and can somewhat stand on their own feet. I still remembered when i showed RA3 to a japanese friend of mine. All hell went loose. Sorry for the rant. -
Actually everything is based on a novel by Aramaki Yoshio, and he said in an interview that as a child he loved those outlandish sci-fi stories published in literary magazines in the 40ies-50ies and he wanted to recreate that feeling in the Konnpeki series Besides, the OVA has pretty nicely animated WW2 fights.
-
There is already one OVA series about that. it's called "Konnpeki no Kanntai" (The deep Blue Fleet) and it's about Yamamoto reincarnating just after the russo-japanese war, using his knowledge of the coming war to install a prime minister of his own, Hidetaka, who doesn't backstab the US bust honorably declares war and also we have Yamamoto counseling scientists to make technology advance beyond time, so 1945 tech in 1940 and 1950ies tech in 1945. The war goes like this: Japan smashes the US, then togheter they smash Nazi Germany.

I rejoyce. Italy sucks to much as nation to have any kind of achievment.

being the huge traitor and anti-italian guy i am, i join Holland. Hup Holland hup!

Lol at Massimo Dalema. I think it's because of some feat achieved in MEC2.

I'm not astonished at all by it. Until 1980 in italy if you murdered you wife because you found her with a lover you had every kind of attenuants and the honor crime was fully contemplated in our penal system. You have to remember, when talking about italy, that it is a 1800ies nation that plays present day nation, while inside you have politicians that say that Italy is not ready for full women rappresentation in parliament, that bows down to everything the catholic church commands and has politicians that brag the US are not ready for a black president when told to comment on Obama's achievments.
