To answer my own post...added 1.7 patch to generals (easily overlooked if you only scan the top part of the EA download page and don't read the ENTIRE document...doh!) Problem fixed ;) :D :D B)

I love it when I solve my own problems...I was assuming that the 1.02 was the latest patch for generals but that was incorrect. you also need to apply the 1.7 patch (doh!). That fixed the problem! :D :D ;) B)

I've got nearly the same specs on my pc: amd 1.9 ghz processor, 512MB ram, ATI 9600 graphics card, Win XP pro w/sp1. I too am getting the "technical difficulties" problem. I've moved the movie files over per the other thread and applied the patch, adjusted the ini, etc. from the other threads but still am unable to launch the game. Any ideas?

It's still not working...I've installed patches put it in the right directory, hit cancel, turned internet on/off, adjusted ini file, renamed blitzbuilder, still nothing. The blitz intro screen pops up, then the cnc screen and just as it is about to load up it says "technical difficulties" and stops. What gives? ;) :D
