Tiberian Dawn: The First Strike is a free first person shooter based on Westwood's real time strategy, Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn. It runs on the Unreal Engine (UDK). This purpose of this game is to recreate the original Command & Conquer in a first person shooter. All the weapons, vehicles, buildings, and characters, will be remade in as close to exact detail as possible.

Things have been going slow, really slow. This update is basically to inform everyone that we aren't dead, but that we could really use some help.

We need 3D modelers, and those who can animate and rig 3d models the most. However, we are also accepting:

Website Designers
Concept Artists
Texture Artists
Promotional/Logo Artists

Everyone else is either really busy, or having computer/software problems. So everything will be going at a snail's pace, if at all, without any help.

Respectfully,
Bfranx and the Firestorm Productions Team

I'd like to make a few points as to why nobody is replying to your calls for help.

Firstly, your mod idea. You're basically re-making C&C Renegade. We've heard that idea infinite times before (I have in my distant past signed up to no less than 4 mod teams trying the same thing), and with the exception of Renegade X, they have all failed. To really get people's attention, an original idea would be a good start.

Ok, so idea aside, lets look a bit deeper. From what I can tell you've been going for half a year, and you've got barely anything to show for it. Just a handful of poorly rendered, untextured models. You have nothing in-game yet, in fact I've looked over your modDB page and forum and I still have no idea what game engine you're planning to use.

How many people are on your team? As far as I can tell, it's 3, including yourself. What exactly do you do on your team Bfranx? What is your contribution to the mod? Models? Textures? Code? Please don't say you're just the webmaster, you can't just put up a website and expect everyone else to make a mod for you, it doesn't work like that. As mod leader, you have to be the most active contributor to the mod. It is the best way to inspire people to help you without pay.

And I think I'll end with a comment on your last post there. Coming in saying your progress has been going really, really slow then saying you're not dead isn't going to convince anyone that this isn't a doomed project. You need to show us that you're progressing somewhere. Show something off, get a nice render of one of your models with at least a token effort of a texture on it. Better yet, get something in a game engine and show that.

I'm sorry to be tough on you here, but modding is tough. To really be successful or even reach a release, it has to go beyond a hobby. Blitz 2 only got to release because various members of the team worked on it full time, overtime, around the clock, day after day. Keeping a team together for a successful mod wasn't easy either, not a single member of the original Blitz 2 team worked on the final release. Even the leadership changed on a few occasions.

1. In a way, yes. Its the basic idea, but we're remodeling everything, and tweaking gameplay. If you want a better comparison, you should check out Red Alert: A Path Beyond. Its basically that game (details, gameplay, exactness), only instead of RA its TD.

2. Our modelers have done an excellent job, the weapons I can agree are poorly rendered, but the rest I find very good, even if they arent textured. Also, it is on the unreal engine, I thought it said that on the information bar, but I'll add that to the description, thanks for pointing that out.

3. There are a total of 6 members, including myself, although 2 of them are more than likely gone. My job is basically to organize ideas, recruit members, critique, provide insight, and pretty much make sure everything works out. Its not much, but I'm proud to contribute.

4. Well, it was basically speaking out to those who have been tracking us, and have seen the progression, and to inform them that they can help be a part of something that they (hopefully) want to see completed.

5. Modding is tough, we've been at this for almost 2 years (July 10 will mark the second year) and we know its hard, we work hard, we just have limited resources, and thats why we try to reach out to the community for support.

Thanks for pointing those things out, hopefully, the project will get its fire back, and things will be better.

And remember that we're looking for all of the following: *= Accepting ***=Need Desperately # = Not Accepting at this time

3D Artists: Buildings, Weapons, Characters, Vehicles. ***
3D Unwrappers: Getting the models ready for texturing. #
Texture Artists: Texturing the unwrapped models. #
Animators/Riggers: Basically, making it so that the models will work on the Unreal Engine. #
Engine Programmers: Making sure that everything works right. *
Concept Artists: 2D Drawings for the 3D Artists to base their work on. ***
Logo/Promotional Artists: Logos for the game and company, and posters to attract new followers and members. *
Website Designers: We need a new website to post ideas, updates, and accept new members. ***
Mappers: Putting it all together. Should be able to work with textures and models, and know how to use the UDK map maker, or any other map maker that will work on the Unreal Engine.#
Sound Designers: Vehicle, Weapon, and Ambient sounds. ***

These positions are not paid, however, joining could be a great opportunity to work with a team, improve your ability, and have something to show others when applying for their team.

If you're interested, message me here, apply on our website www.firestormproductions.org/board or email me at Bfranx1994@hotmail.com

I was saving this for an update, but it seems every time that we have an opportunity to get on a roll with making models and release a big update, something goes wrong.

Anyway, this is the Nod Obelisk of Light. Modeled and textured by Gregory Mirles.
