    An Act Of Love

 HAHAHA !!! I guess the ‘Act of Love’ mod will feature this tank: http://img477.imageshack.us/my.php?image=t623ed.jpg :)
  2. According to Evilviking, “An Act of War” is in “hibernation”. If my knowledge of hibernation is correct, that means the mod will resume posting updates after a period of inactivity. The only question left now is what would (the fans) want to see in the next update?

    The Actual Iraqi Faction Manual

Actually if you go to page one of this thread, you can see what is planed for the Iraqi side, while a list of USA units and structures can be found on this thread: www.derelictstudios.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=14653 Strangely enough, neither thread mentions anything about the primary RADAR of either side. I guess the only way to find out now is to download the half-finished mod. On a different note, I was going through the thread when I noticed some errors in my last post on the previous page. I decided to correct them just to be precise and accurate and to prevent the spread of false information. Here is what I corrected: 1) Repetitions – some of the vehicles were mentioned twice. I fixed that. 2) Confusion about M3 APC – I mentioned that the Iraqi army used the M3 APC. When I first composed the list, I thought that M3 APC was referring to the American M3 halftrack. It is more likely however that M3 APC refers to the APC variant of the French AML-245 (also called Panhard M3). I changed it to the AML-245 APC in the list. 3) Additions – I added PT-76 amphibious tank and MiG-29 Fulcrum to the list (I can not believe I forgot to mention the Fulcrum the first time around! Shame on me!) 4) Trivia :) – Although not part of the list, I decided to added a bit of information about the T-34 tanks and Super Étendard aircraft that once in Iraqi inventory. If anyone is wondering about the sources used to compose the list, there was several of them. The two biggest sources of information however where afvid.topcities.com and www.combataircraft.com Well, that is all. It is a real shame the mod died :( .

Some Ideas For The Nk Forces

Pegasus is not the most feared creature in Greek mythology. However, the Pegasus is known for its speed. According to myth, Pegasus was Bellerophon’s mount when he fought the Chimera and latter used by Zeus to carry his thunderbolts. By naming a vehicle Pegasus, one emphasizes the vehicle's speed.

Interesting idea Incognito. But somehow "Pool of Heaven" does not seem to have a very frightening ring to it  . Perhaps a Korean word for some marine animal would have made a better choice. Not that it matters now that the mod died :( .

Some Ideas For The Nk Forces

Hmm… I take it no one here is much interested in navies. OK. Here are some ideas for potential North Korean APCs and IFVs VTT-323 VTT-323 (nicknamed VET) is DPRK standard armored personal carrier. It is based on the Chinese YW-531 APC. This APC is fully amphibious and has a turret with dual 14.5mm machine guns (or, alternatively, a mounted 14.5mm and 7.62mm machine guns). Some versions also carry AT-3 anti-tank missiles and/or SA-7 surface-to-air missiles. There have also been sightings of VTT-323 armed with 107mm multiple rocket launchers. It has a crew of 2 and can carry up to 13 troops. In addition to being Korean People's Army’s main APC, the VET is also the bases for many other KPA vehicles, including the PT-85 light tank mentioned above. Line drawing of the VET VTT-323 armed with twin 14.5mm machine guns and 4 SA-7 missiles M-1992 APC Another indigenous North Korean APC is the M-1992. It is similar to the Russian BRDM-2. Like the VTT-323, the M-1992 is fully amphibious. It has a crew of 2 and can carry up to 8 infantrymen. This vehicle is usually armed with 30mm grenade launcher and AT-4 anti-tank guided missiles. M-1992 diagram (notice the four AT missiles mounted on the back) M-1992 armed with 24mm MRLS Other Here is a list of other troop transports used by the North Korean armed forces: YW-531 APC; BTR-40 APC BMP-1 IFV; BTR-152 APC BTR-50 APC; BTR-60 APC Interestingly enough, some of the older transports can carry much more solders than newer APCs. The BTR-152, for instance, can carry as much as 17 troops, while the BTR-50 can accommodate up to 20 soldiers! However, I do not know if the DPRK army still uses such vehicles in frontline services, or just the reserves. Top image – BTR-152; Bottom image – BTR-50 Type 85, Type 89 and Type 90 If the team decides to give the North Korean side a more modern troop carrier, perhaps it should be the successor of the YW-531. Type 85 and Type 90 are two descendants of the YW-531 developed for the export market, while the Type 89 was developed for domestic use. For all three vehicles, the main armament is a 12.7mm anti-aircraft machine gun, or (for the IFV variants) a 25mm canon. These troop carriers are also fitted with gun ports. Other weapons, like anti-tank missiles can also be added for extra lethality. Like their progenitor, each vehicle is amphibious and can carry up to 13 troops. Type 90 APC BTR-90 Another modern alternative is the Russian BTR-90. Nicknamed Росток (Rostok – a plant shoot in English), the BTR-90 is the latest vehicle in the family of 8x8 troop carriers that started with BTR-60. Rostok is armed with a 30mm canon and a 7.62mm machine gun. It can also carry an AG-17 grenade launcher and an AT-5 missile. Occupants can also open fire thought the vehicles gun ports, but it can carry only up to 7 soldiers. The vehicle is, off course, amphibious. BTR-90 BTR-T I must say, I really like the BTR-T the team has made for the mod, and I like what they have planed for it. I cannot wait to take it for a test drive on the Act of War battlefield! But perhaps it should be given to the North Korean side rather than the Iraqi. It would make sense if the North Koreans in the Act of War converted their old T-55 into Infantry Fighting Vehicles. Just a suggestion. BTR-T photograph BTR-T as seen in Act of War

What Happened To The Iron Curtain?

 I am unsure of what you are implying. Anyway, if they are not dead, where can I find their home page?
  11. This is probably the wrong form to post this question on, but I was just wondering, does anybody know what happened to the Iron Curtain mod? Did they die or just moved? I cannot find them anywhere.

I was wondering, what is the structure/unit that provides the Iraqi side with radar? Also, which structure/unit provides the U.S.A. side with radar?

Some Ideas For The Nk Forces

Here are some ideas for DPRK navy: Overview North Korean Navy is one of the most secretive navies in the world. That means one could be really creative when it comes to DPRK naval units. Also, even though secretive ≠ good, Korea could have the best naval units in the game (just as US has the best aircraft and Iraq has the best artillery). Combat vessel Democratic Peoples republic of Korea has several indigenous midget submarines. One of the most interesting is their Hi Speed Submergible Boat Specifications from www.strange-mecha.com/ship/M-Sub/N-Korea01.htm In the game, it could have 2 ways of traveling – either slowly but in stealth below the surface of the water or at a greater speed above the water at the cost of stealth. It could be armed with surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles. It would also be cool if it could lay underwater mines. Transport Towards the end of World War Two, the Germans developed a midget submarine known as the Seeteufel (Sea Devil in English). What set it apart from other submarines was a pair of caterpillar tracks – similar to those of a tank. These tracks allowed the submarine to operate both on land and at sea. The only prototype was destroyed by the end of the war, but there were rumors that the Soviets built similar craft during the Cold War to insert special forces where they would be least expected. Photograph of the Seeteufel Seeteufel diagram Seeteufel model Specifications from http://strangevehicles.greyfalcon.us/BORGW...20SEETEUFEL.htm Artistic representations of rumored Soviet vessel Are you thinking what I am thinking? An amphibious transport submarine for the North Korean side which would silently crawl beneath the water and emerge unexpectedly on hostile shores! The perfect sneak attack weapon! Of course, to prevent it from being overpowering, stealth-detecting units should probably have the ability to see and destroy it. I am not a coder, but I am confident it is possible to code such a vehicle. I remember when I was playing the final GLA mission in Zero Hour, I ordered a Battle Bus to cross the river that ran across the map. Instead of crossing via a bridge, the Bus just came near the bridge and drove straight into the river, despaired beneath the waves and after a short while surfaced on the opposite beach! If such a glitch occurs, there must be a to code an amphibious submersible. Other How about giving DPRK an amphibious tank like the PT-76, Type-63, PT-85 (North Korea indigenous amphibious tank), or maybe even a fictional hover-tank (something along the lines of a PT-76 with a hovercraft skirt instead of caterpillar tracks). Because tanks are built at the War Factory, a Korean player would be able to make his/her presence felt on the high seas even if he/she does not control a port facility (or whatever it is called in the game). Soviet PT-76 Chinese Type-63 North Korean PT-85 So what do you think? Comments? Other ideas?

Some Ideas For The Nk Forces

I did not say that North Korea will be finished soon – I am not a project member and cannot comment on the mod’s progress. I am a fan however, and I do believe that when the team does finish the mod, it will be one of the best mods out there! It is only natural that I wish to contribute my ideas. If you think that making suggestions for a Korean faction is a waste of time, consider this: the fans of Rise of the Reds mod mentioned above created a suggestion thread for a European side. For nearly a year, fans posted ideas for European units, technology, tactics and single player mission – even though the mod team said they are not planning to make a European side in their mod!

    Iran

By the way, I know there will be no Iranian side in An Act of War, but if there was, what kind of hero unit do you think it would have?
