    Wow, Just... Wow

MMO's are definetely addicting, and they're made to be so, so the argument pointed out about 'it's your own fault' is shaky. However, there's is some truth to the fact that there is no substance dependence. There's an emotional dependence, and that's why people don't like stopping. Again though, this isn't because people have no lives etc. I know from my perspective and those of many people in my guild we have to schedule the game content (raids and stuff) VERY strictly because so many poeple go drinking fridays, have dates.. go out to eat, spend time with their families and have homework to do. I think generalizing WoW would be like generalizing people who sit on the internet talking about crap on forums all the time as being loosers with no life too :) There are certainly people with little self control or self-assessing characteristics who should be kept from games like wow, and I probably wouldn't let younger people play it without the parental controls on time being active, but I think that if you're responsable and you value the other aspects of life, working WoW into it is possible. I know from my perspective WoW is the first game I've really enjoyed in almost 3 years (beside HL2's single player) so I'll gladly pay the amount I'd pay seeing a shitty theatre movie to play it and enjoy what blizzard is maintaining. Now I think that depending on the ingame social environment a player meets up with, I think that normative influances could definetely cause problematic addiction in poeple who aren't aware of their own playing habbits and goals in life, so I do agree that WoW in some cases is a destructive influance. But labeling it across the board as bad is an attribution error.

    Bush Visits Ottawa - Riot

Since Bush referenced it in his speach earlier today, I wish I could rewatch the clip when Rick Mercer asked Bush about his thoughts about Prime Minister Poutine (or soemthing to that effect) Bush tried very hard to reply like he knew about Canada at the time.. pity he didn't realize the joke....

Assorted pictures I also took some shaky DV that shows part of the demo where they where waving around Iraq flags and stuff, they set the buses back by like an hour because of that :P Oh yeah and this is me :D I just hope the cop who took the picture is better at protecting the peace than he as a photographer (I had to photoshop two pictures together because his finger was covering it in different places and one was too blurry...) Those are the canadian riot police :D

Protest seemed to work just fine Godwin. You seemed to think that people came to skip class or something. I never said anything about that, however its a fairly common situation that students are willing to protest things they don't agree with (same goes for professors, I saw several I know in the crowd). Also, regardless of what the news said there were actually a couple protest spots. The biggest one (namely the place where all the universities gathered at first) was the grand parade. I wasn't there. I went to the peace demonstration area which was closer to Pier 21 where they had local cattle ranchers and other speakers discussing the effects Bush's policies are having on canada and the world. After the grand parade group started marching they came down to join us where I was (I go lots of pictures too). I have a feeling the mood of protest was different between Halifax and Ottawa. the Halifax protest was very civil. No violence of any kind, just a lot of traffic congestion. I'll post up a link to some pictures I took while playing with my digital camera. I got my picture taken with the cops :D

Agreed, he's also funny to laught at. Though he's actually less amusing than Jean Cretien.. Cretien did stupid things like take fuzzy gifts from foreign countries and ware them as hats... *shudders* The satire shows often didn't need to make anything up in order to mock him... and it was their best material to boot.

I was just reading cbc.ca and it says he's comming here to thank us for putting up the majority of the 9/11 airline diversions. (If you've ever seen the pictures of rows of airplanes from 9/11, that was Halifax International Airport) 9/11 Grounding Pictures (pretty cool how they landed so many planes in such a small area) Beyond that, I also heard he's planning on doing some spiel about joint military heritage or something... Halifax is arguably the (if not one of the) biggest military hot spots in Canada (namely the majority of the canadian Navy, which, unlike the rest of the canadian forces, isn't complete bullshit. It's not the biggest but they do their job) So that might be a good enough reason to come to Halifax *shrugs* And you people who think protesting is about changing Bush's mind are missing the point of protesting. Think of it as defending yourself in a fight even when you know you'll lose. Just standing there and taking it is even more stupid. To be honest, I doubt most people protesting think anything they do has anything to do with changing Bush's actions, However they _should_ help influance our own government and hopefully keep it out of a 'follow the leader' mentality *cough*UK*cough**cough*

Next stop Halifax! I got my tickets in the protestor crowd tomorow morning weee :D They're planning on Burning a bush epitaph(sp) and stuff, should be a blast... Halifax is mostly populated with university students so even though the overall population is low, protests always turn out a good crowd :D We're normally faily peaceful though.. except that one time some shit heads went crazy and the cops brought out the water guns :D

Quite Possibly The Greatest Car Ever.

euhmmm, Proclone.. Citroen is French.. not German .. ;) Ever so sorry, never heard of the company, and having only glanced at the name I failed to notice the umlaut was on the e rather than the o. 'Citroën' isn't a real french word either so hopefully you'll forgive me for the greivous misdead of saying it was German.

For some reason this reminds me of my first year philosophy class... except this argument seems to have more fallecy than you can shake a stick at. And how about this for a rule, if you want to post an argument that commits a falecy you must also post a nude drawing. Deal, great :D
