weston 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2008 (edited) Ehm, uhhm goose? This picture fits EXACTLY over your 'painting' of the jet ... Proof you say? The above photo is set at 58% opacity, shift-sized abit, and flipped hozontally over your 'painting', producing this result. Goose 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2008 Oh, shit yeah, I've posted this in a couple other places and told people I used that image to get the shape right at first, then I painted in all the detail using it as a reference. I thought I mentioned that but I guess not here. I basically did that because I suck at drawing 3D objects in perspective and wanted to get the shape right. After that I just moved the image to the side and painted from there. Occasionally moving it back to see how it was going. A bit cheap maybe, but it's my first attempt and wanted to get the technique right and play with brushes more than anything.
Goose 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2009 Bump. I had another go today, didn't cheat this time. I had a picture of the Castle Bravo explosion on one monitor, and used it for colour reference, and shape etc, but only copied it by eye. I'm fairly pleased with the results.
