  1. I was a soldier at the Dachau deathcamp and it ...affected me, changed who I became. It was 1966, just 21 years after the United States Army captured it and we were still there as part of the NATO defense of West Germany. Most of the former camp was a pretty area with grassy mounds usually closed from public access. There was a catholic abbey, or somesuch, there that prayed for the dead buried there. Cold, dark winter nights on guard duty I would hear them saying the eternal prayer for millions murdered. We lived in the beautiful four story stone & marble SS buildings. So after 18 months in a pretty creepy place I transferred out to a warmer place near Saigon. But ever since I've studied the events of 1900-1950 trying to reach an understanding of Dachau and uncountable other horrors that have occured where ever humans are. My bottom line is do what's right regardless of personal cost and don't just be a weak weasle-out-of-it sort. Stand up. If only because you might need the self-respect later in life. "NEVER AGAIN"
