Lars573 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2005 *Raises mug of ale* Hail the victorious dead! But for my own part I remember my Grand-father, a man I never really got to know very well. He was kind of imposing. He was a signal man. Close emough to hear the gun fire and feel the shell impacts (according to him), but not actually in the line of fire. He passed from the world 3 years ago, so I remember him.
Torlek 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 To the veterans of all wars. -_- Especially important now that we try to learn from the WWI vets, very soon this war will pass from living memory. I personally had two great-grandfathers in the war, one on the Western Front for the US (I think in the 3rd Infantry Division), and one on the Italian Front for Italy who was captured at Caporetto. Sadly they both died before I was born so I never got to hear any of their stories.
