Derelict Studios Announces Carmen Sandiego!

Recommended Posts

Ok... now things are starting to add up.

Im betting that this and the iron curtain news are april fools jokes

Reasons:

EA would never EVER do that. They are too busy getting cash to care about mod devs.

If iron curtain was at beta test, then I sincerely doubt that the team would switch engines. Surely one of the dev team actually played it before feeding it to the hungry beta testers. That would mean that things were going ok

We at Derelict Studios are proud to unveil our latest project, Iron Curtain, a mod that brings back good old Red Alert in the SAGE engine!

Being in the works for over a year

If it was in the works for a year, then you lot would have playtested at least once, with it working.

This one just takes the cake

the first joint Electronic Arts and Derelict Studios project
. Please. Its too much of a cruel joke.

So, then, why would we have so much effort put into the RA2 Iron Curtain? Like I said, I think IC will look much better on the RA2 engine.

You'd be surprised at the support EA is showing mod development teams. It took quite a while to receive a response, but we were pleasantly surprised when they authorized the Carmen Sandiego mod. We thought, and they agreed that it would be an excellent way to bring a younger generation into RTS games. We are also planning to incorporate several new, and never before seen features, that will help with this innovative project's target audience, and it's general playability for all ages.

Well, if its true, which im still SERIOUSLY doubting it is, thats good. Ea are taking a step in the right direction...(Nah, cant be true). As for iron curtain, hmm, if its true i cant say im over the moon about it, im not, im brutally dissapointed. But like I said, all the generals/ZH mods so far are brilliant, and im sure your making the right choice.

No pressure

Wow, it's almost becoming an April Fool's cliche to be joining up with EA. Funny how everyone's doing it today. :P

No, I'm pretty sure that it's real. The timing's a little strange, but it seems like if it is a joke, EA is the one playing it on us. I think the individuals here have matured past the petty stage of April Fool's jokes.

Well im pretty sure its false, but it would be nice if it was true.

The iron curtain news on the other hand is not nice.

You skeptics will be the downfall of the gaming industry. Seriously, what the fuck is are your problems? We finally hit it big with EA and you act like this is a joke? The least you pricks could do is show some support, but no, that'd be too much to ask.

I don't care if EA thinks it's bad PR for me to say it to our fans: Fuck all of you. We're still in relatively early stages, so you can't expect anything beyond concept art and pre-alpha screenshots. Don't be little bitches with your doubts. Fine, it was announced on April 1st. So was True War 2 and that wasn't a joke either. You're all too paranoid because of community jokes every year.

Just give us time to get this rolling, you won't regret it.

No kidding. I think it's a great way to appeal to the younger audiences and introduce RTS gaming to them early. It's fun and they should have the chance to get into it. But they don't give a flying fig about U.S. soldiers and G.L.A. terrorists in some part of the world that they haven't even heard of ("Iraq is near Hawaii, isn't it, Mommy?") but what they DO care about is their educational computer games. To expound on that, EA Games decides that they want to lower the minimum age in their target audience. Unfortunately due to their recent barrage of drop-outs from the company, they have found themselves short-staffed. The staff thinks, "Why don't we just kill two birds with one stone?" and they contact Phoib, the manager of the biggest Command & Conquer: Generals modding studio on the Web, opening a new chapter in company/modder relations. Phoib listens to their idea and agrees on the condition that he and his modders are able to also do the white-collar planning for certain things. EA assures him that he can manage certain things with their approval upon review, and says that they will manage the rest.

I am guessing that the current models are just test placeholders to be replaced with more detail after being critiqued and approved for redesign and remodel by the folks running EA Games.

Personally, although I'll probably never play it that much, I'm looking forward to this game/mod/thingamajigger because it is so monumental. A collaboration between a game company and their community of modders is practically a historical event in the history of the corporate world.

I dont lend my services out for "joke" work. I intend on supplying 3 buildings a week. I also have spent a lot of time on those pictures and i dont appreciate you all calling them a farce.

Also, if you don't believe us keep an eye on the major gaming/technology sites. Gamespy, IGN, and Gamespot should all have news on it by tomorrow.

Personally, I hope Penny-Arcade does a comic on EA's complete turnaround.

Although I won't be working directly on this project (you'll find out why soon), I can't wait to see how it all turns out! :) Hopefully this signals a turn-around in EA policy as well.

Has everyone been drinking....

April fools.

I will laugh in your face when you are proven very wrong.

This isn't a joke. The people with staff access have been debating it for some time. Why everybody decided to reveal it on April Fool's Day is beyond me. I guess they thought that they were not alone in having matured and grown past the age of kiddie April Fool's jokes, and this was just a convenient day to announce it for some reason.

This is the dawn of a new era. Whoever thought it would begin with Carmen Sandiago? But soon, very soon, young children will be able to enjoy this new era, introduced to them and to us by Carmen Sandiago - a collaborative project jointly between EA Games and DerelictStudios.
