Official V2.0 Usa Suggestions Thread

Hello, everyone! As of the current alpha build (v1.3), the United States is about 92-94% complete. We're now making final cosmetic and balancing changes. So, if you fans have any ideas for the final side, now is the time to voice them!

 

Remember, a lot has already been changed, so your idea might have already been implimented. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread once I get back on July 18th.

Palladins can fire more damage.If there could be a guy shooting on top of the tank when you purchase the tank machine gun upgrade.Some kind of helicopter that can hold vehicles.Be able to build up to 4 Special Forces units. Thats all I can think of right now.

chinook gunships maybe :) lol, the jolly green upgrade or the pav-low upgrade for the ch-53 would be awsome, add 2 .50 cal to the side doors and a mini gun to the back door for defense would be great.

pav-low would have radar jamming equipment and be invisible to radar, but all those electronics are expensive, and the time it takes to install is great to, putting the helicopter out of commision untill the upgrade is complete. it would also have the ability to rearm units and heal infantry. pav-low would be faster and better armored as well. (also a good upgrade for the blackhawk) pav-low is used with special forces units, and should come with one sniper and one sf trooper.

so will only you guys get to play the 1.3? heres my suggestions anyway:

-you should be able to upgrade superweapons somehow, i played a mod where you could upgrade scud storm to thermo-nucleor scud warheads (v kl)

-tank machine gun guy ontop aswell sounds kl

-if multi deltas can be built, they shudnt be like an angry mob, they should be seperate

-could the POW idea be switched round with USA to use spies or something? (still liked RA2's spies taking on disguises and raidning enemy bases)

-there should be a button to make the pilot eject (maybe, :s)

-or even better, a button to make the jet do an air stunt! (like a loops or a barrel roll)

-A-10's, i think just about every1 wants to build them :D

-i played one mod where you pressed a button on the barraks war factory and dozer build menu, that took you to 'high tech structures' becuz they ran out of space, this aloud for more buildings nad was a kl idea.

-an upgrade to make dozers build faster

-maybe soldiers could go prone? (dnt know weather pos on SAGE engine)

-i played another mod where soldiers had a shotgun for close combat that they could switch to, and also claymors that were like mines that are layed by troops (good for a BHD type scenario)

-no snipers that are tree's! i wanna see them and there rifle!

-an advanced training building, units go in, and some time l8r (maybe 30 seconds) they come out elite and stuff.

 

Theese are my ideads for now dnt know weather some are posible or have been done :D

Is it possible to make it so that the MLRS can't move and fire? As of right now 1.1 MLRS truly own.

 

On another note give the U.S an actual hero name. Hell use Rambo if you need to. There really isn't a single man called "Delta Force" that kicks ass.

 

And finally I'm hoping your bringing the good ole Ranger back :)

ok, one, hes "Delta force operative" and 2

 

Rename the delta force sniper to Marine sniper, they generaly a bit better at concealment

 

Soft point upgrades for infantry funs that do more damage to infantry, but less to tanks

 

Disable the A-10 Stike. Its a bunch of F-18s now, and it dont look rite

 

Upgrade the Legacy vehicle (humvee ambulance) to a stryker ambulance

As far as the A-10 strike issue, I get that randomly. Most of the time I get A-10

s, sometimes they look like F-18s. I say make buildable A-10s and replace the A-10 strike with a Super Cobra strafing run.

1.Buildable A-10s

 

2.Buildable B-2 (hopefully)

 

3.Bring back Raptors or F-15 fighters

 

4.Bring the POW truck back as a dirt cheap transport alternative to the humvee that has no defenses.

 

5. Upgrade for Soldiers to deploy into a .50 caliber defensive position with sand bags. Like in Red alert 2 but better looking.

 

6.An expensive upgrade to the above suggestion that adds camo netting to give it stealth ability.

 

7. Buildable and garrisonablle watch tower with search light that scans area and can spot stealthed units.

 

8. Buildable C-130 that can be filled with soldiers that you can send to be paradroped any where on the battlefield. Plus upgrade to make it into the gunship version.

 

9. I like the idea for loop. Press the loop button to get your plane to end loop his way behind an enemy plane

 

10. Pilots with guns! or stealth...

 

11. Missles that can actually miss a plane! Each rank of pilot would have different missle evading skills. maybe invisible counter measures or something.

 

12. Buildable bunkers for all.

 

13. Five star general ability to call in Special forces raids to capture any enemy building with a really long load time.

 

14.Multiplayer Black Hawk down mission with one player who controls the terrorists and one who controls the U.S

------REALITY V.S. GAMEPLAY------

 

Well, if you're looking for reality...

 

I'm sure that the An Act of War Mod is designed to simulate reality, while not giving up good gameplay at the same time. Therefore, for simple reasons, sometimes reality must be sacrificied for the mere reason of a good game.

 

As a US military buff, here's some 'tiny' suggestions...

 

-Infantry-

1. As someone else mentioned before, Delta Snipers aren't actually that good. Delta Team is actually an assault team. Marine snipers, armed with .50 Barretts, have the most training time and expertise out of the armed forces.

 

2. Concerning the 'hero', I see you've changed it into a Delta Force operative. Not bad, but you seldom have a 'one-man army' type in reality. I have two possible alternatives: either you can weaken this guy, and allow players to train around four to six of them, or you make this hero into something else.

 

3. Pilots. Good idea, but think about it. Not really fair, is it? If you're playing Iraq or North Korea, it won't be really fun if everything the enemy's throwing at you is already elite level, will it? A better idea would be like what someone else mentioned: a training center where units go, and increase rank after a period of time.

 

4. AT4 Soldier. Uh...... well, the AT4 is kinda old, and can only be used against land targets. I suggest the Javelin Missile Launcher, a new weapon designed for both anti-air and ground support.

Dude his name is Delta Force Operative and Delta Operative is what there called in real life! There are no "hero units" like rambo in real life who go into bases and kill heaps of guys and manage to survive so I think Delta Operatives should not have a build limit but be expensive.

-Vehicles-

 

1. The Bradley. Big problem there. First of all, you still have the Paladin icon for it, but that's okay. The Bradley is a light tank. So how come it builds longer and moves slower than the Abrams? In real warfare, the Bradley is one of the US's main recon vehicles. How can you recon when you move at the speed of an Overlord?

 

2. Avenger. Okay. Well, it's much more realistic than the original Zero Hour one now, but still needs improvement in my opinion. First of all, not enough range, not enough firepower, and slow firing speeds. And in real life, an Avenger also has a .50 machinegun that engage both airplanes and ground targets. I'm just mentioning this because this Avenger seems real weak compared with the Iraq air defense vehicle (the Tung).

 

3. MLRS. Done real nice, so not a lot of problems. In real life, MLRS fires twelve rockets. The common misunderstanding is that they are normal rockets. In fact, they explode in mid-air, and drop hundreds of tiny bomblets. For this reason, they are considered armored shotguns. Very effective against lightly armored units, while ineffective against armor. Range should also be improved a bit. This kind of modding is probably real hard, but it's just a suggestion. :P

-Aircraft-

 

1. Nice job with the Little Bird. But I found a problem. Are they supposed to use rockets after you use the Rocket Pod upgrade? Because there's an icon for the Little Bird for rocket pod upgrades, but after upgrading, there's still no rockets. And it'd be nice if the four troops who 'ride the skids' can shoot out, because in real life they can.

 

2. Pave Low (or Super Stallion). The chopper you're using as replacement for the Chinook is nice, but what is it? I hope you have a name :P Anyway, whichever it is, they're supposed to be armed with dual miniguns + a .50 M2 machinegun.

 

3. B52 Saturation Bombing. Is that B52 a little too weak against anti-armor, or did my opponent just have too many defenses? :blink:

-Others-

 

1. The Cruise Missile Strike. Pretty cool, but not strong enough. It doesn't have the power of a nuke, a scud storm, or the strategic capabilites of a particle cannon. I'd suggest either stronger damage or something else. In addition, I could fire the cruise missiles as soon as I finished building the cruise missile building. Aren't they supposed to charge first?

 

Nothing else for now! Pretty good work, best mod I've seen so far! Everything I didn't post on means that I feel they're really balanced between reality and gameplay! I'll be posting more on Iraq later!

eddieleetaiwan.....I agree with you on the MLRS thing, I have been telling Evil for sometime that it needs to be scatter bomblets with long range.....lol, he needs to play Act of War: Direct Action

 

And no im not a traitor...its a good game and well worth buying....Generals just has a better WB and also better multiplayer. Tho we lose in the graphics, detail and explosion area bigtime!

 

Anyway....as for the Delta Force thing, its been touchy subject. I would like to see a 4 man Delta Force team with an MP5, Sniper, SAW, and LAW/AT4/Javelin (w/e would be better...I think Law would be better, they arnt takin on tank platoons) soldiers to counter anything on the ground. With the ability to plant charges....it would cool to see 1 man plant while the rest cover his back......tho if one is killed there is no respawn of him. That squad will be crippled if you arn't careful so it keeps his power in balance. And after teh entire squad is dead u can rebuild a new one....so 1 build limit. Thier anti-infantry skills would rock. Anti-tank...eh they could take out light vehciles in 1-2 shots...tanks....u better run.

 

 

Thats just my 2 cents.....as for the maneuver thing on the planes...I don't think thats possible tho i could be wrong, im no coder.

 

However all thinss other than that......My only request is that we have more tracers on mini-gun units or the such....usually every 7th shot or something like that is a tracer....and to see a gattling gun or w/e we replace it with to fire tracer rounds that are at diff intervals and show up clearer would be awesome...also to have missiles fire and just shoot straight up and pass the enemy....like RPG dudes just firing to try and hit something. Instead of that arcing thing where they will arc like crazy to hit the target if they have the fuel to do it.

 

Thats my only wish!

I would like having the Bradley's TOW launcher raise up before firing, like in real life.

 

Something to make aircombat interesting. Showing the planes actually dodging missles, rolling, would be the tiz. As would missles that act like missles

 

RPGS!!!! Make them inaccurate. They don't lock on. to counteract this, you could make rpg soldiers powerful against infantry, and deadly against stationary vehicles, with the exception of tanks /m1a2, t90, type 96. That is what the anti-armor team is for with the iraqis!! and they shouldn't be able to hit planes, only helicopters. nice rpg smoke trail, btw!!

 

Moabs are dropped form C130s

 

MLRS would be pretty cool with bomblets.

 

Paladins should get machine guns like in real life

 

All tanks with machine guns should show the guy on top the tank shooting the machine gun

 

(what is north koreas anti-air????)

The Bradley is not a light tank, its an Infantry Fighting Vehicle! In real life I do believe it is slightly slower then the M1.

 

As for Delta Force: I think you should research there roles abit before you make any desicions on them. Delta-Counter Terror.

I think if the special forces units are to be mildly realistic in AAOW, it'll be worth considering to place them in advance reconnaissance roles rather than just its primary focus on demolition tasks.

 

Here are some of my ideas concerning the special forces:

Implementing some form of deploy ability which either immobilizes the special forces unit or greatly restrict their speed of movement. In exchange, their sight range will be increased significantly and thus allowing the player to detect cloaked enemy units at much further distance (while remain undercover). Variations may include the special forces unit made to only reveal moving units (or simply restricting to vehicles if it upsets the gameplay too much) within the increased line of sight, while maintaining the fog of war to an extent.

 

Somehow (if possible) allowing bombers like the F-15 strike eagle to have more accuracy as they engage moving ground targets when the target of interest is within the special force's recon range.

 

Make special forces to have the ability of crossing rivers or other water patches. I'm not sure if this was already implemented.

Jokers got the right idea.

 

If you want demolition/stealth special forceS, they should be Navy SEALS with the ability to swim, slow, destroy buildings, destroy vehicles and kill infantry.

For Counter Terror special forceS they should be Delta Operatives, with the ability to detect stealth, fast, capture buildings, capture vehicles and kill infantry (being unstealth would give vehicles a chance of destroying the Delta OperativeS before they can be captured.

well' i'll spill the beans out about the USA hero unit and spec ops

 

he will change name, i was thinking to Codename: Raptor, or maybe calling here from Alaska Solid Snake LOL(joking)

 

he will not plant charges anymore

he will call in an airstrike like Boris in Ra2 the airstrike will consist in:

 

2 escort raptors with 2 missiles each for air threaths

1 Raptor armed with a B-61

 

also, about the MOAB: AAOW is set in an alternate timeline, so this moab is lighter and can be transported via B2.

and also, the new model is beautiful, why throw it away?

 

 

also, the paradrop will be replaced by a SEAL paradrop......
