OK, here's my idea...
First I would like to say that everyone may think its stupid and I may get flamed for it, but I'm posting it anyways.
Here goes...
Hero units! Generals and ZH has 'em, Blitz should have 'em too!
I got this idea partially from a mod I played that adds Hitler as a buildable unit for the GLA. He had the power of propaganda and would heal nearby units.
So in Blitz we could have Roosevelt or Churchill for the allies, Hitler for ze Germans, and Stalin for the soviets. They could all pretty much do what an officer already does now, but be a lot better at it and have other special abilities. Like maybe roosevelt could go really fast in his wheel chair, and Stalin could have a big AT gun, and Hitler could sway enemy troops with propaganda, and Churchill could, well, be English!
I think it would add some comedy relief to blitz, which in turn could attract more n00bs. I know the Hitler thing for ZH made me laugh (you guys should try and find that btw, its hilarious).
And no one can get pissy and yell at me that this is a super serious historically realistic mod, because a lot of the unit voice overs that are in place would argue otherwise!

There is one prob with heros, there are soo many named heros you cuold probably have an infantry tank , and aircraft hero, but think its left best without heros.

Big John It was talked about long long ago in a topic far far delited. I really don't think the nations leader should fight because that might be dangerous to lose him. I think it was said some of the actual tank, plane, and infantry heros of ww2 should be added. I really don't know the names of the heros but each side would have got a hero for a different area. I think it would have been a cool thing to see a german siting on the top of his tanks hatch yelling and giving moral.

anyway, it would be neat to see hero units suck as:

Erwin Rommel
Rudstetd
Montgovery
ect.

i liek the idea of a guy on his tank yelling things out. would be neat.



like generals and field-marshals.

I klnow my heros there are plenty to coose from for any of the kinds of units but i don't think the heros fit with blitz kind of games play maybe in single player but not in mp.

But a unit like said a general or something yelling out of a tank is cool, imagine patton yelling, FORWARD, or Make him die for his counrty.

In this case though, indeed, no hero units will be added.

Cant we have like, 1 out of every 10 tanks built have a guy that yess something out to his tanks? or somehow make a guy in a tank yelling to his men? i love that idea.

I knew it was probably suggested before and that it had been, and is now being, shot down.
However, I think adding actual names of field officers and generals would be cool. Maybe you could do something to where every officer built has a random name of an actual WW2 officer. And maybe those officers could have different things they are good at, even though that's taking it a little far and is probably not possible in the engine.

You would probably have to link to an external ini file full of names for each side. I haven't explored the generals engine to much, but I have done scripting for Quake engine based games (including mohaa) and a teeny bit for RA2. Maybe I will take the time to figure it out...

You could always Google it...
But I will explain...
Stalin's decree 227 was also called "not a step back". It stated that any Soviet soldier caught retreating was to be shot on site as a traitor to the motherland.
Anyway, I hear that commandos are in the works, so they should satisfy part of my need for a hero. I just hope the Blitz team uses the old "I got a present for ya!" and "Real tough guy!" voice overs, and not the gay Colonel Burton ones.
