This model started out as a low polygon model for Derelict Studios' Blitzkrieg 2 mod. For the last 4 years I've been adding detail to it. It has now become the most accurate and highly detailed model I've ever made.
The Crusader tank was a British Cruiser tank of WW2. It spent it's entire service life in the desert war. Early versions, depicted by this model, were armed with a 2pdr gun (approx 40mm) in the main turret. This weapon was too weak to effectively damage the superior German panzers at the long ranges of desert terrain, however the tank was fast so the British charged them in groups at full speed to the panzers to engage them at close range.
This tactic left much to be desired. Scores of Crusader tanks were picked off by the panzers before they got close enough.
The first 4 images show the development from the original low poly model, the last 4 show the model at the end of the modeling stage. It is currently recieving texture work.
