Interactive Sport Judo Series

Interactive Sport have launched the first DVD in the Judo series.
Targetted towards young children learning Judo, the series uses live action footage and CGI animated scenes combined with an easy to use interface to create a learning aid to watch at home between Judo classes to keep up the childrens interest in the sport and thus reduce drop-outs.

To create the animated sequences we used motion capture. Recording the sequences ourselves using an Optitrak 12 camera system and our two live actors, I then applied the raw animation data to the characters using MotionBuilder. Then I fine-tuned the animation manually to make the interactions smoother and more life-like and finally rendered them using 3D Studio Max.
