Light Vehicles

The Allies are industrialised countries with access to plenty of light vehicles, but it is the entry of the US that really helped to drive home the importance of logistics to a hitherto tank-focused Allied command. With mass produced American trucks the Allied forces had a logistics backbone that no other nation could match. The famous Red Ball express during the Normandy campaign was a clear example of the power of a flexible supply chain. This focus allows for mechanised infantry divisions to be raised and shipped in wholesale from the US at a low cost. Furthermore it facilitates rapid armoured operations, with the late war Allied tanks unhindered by the logistics problems that plague the tanks of their rivals, hampering their movement on a strategic level, making repairs difficult and Keeping their overall speeds low.

The Jeep is a ubiquitous mass produced 4x4 scout car able to cross rough ground easily on its high suspension. Its cross country capabilities make it well suited as a reconnaissance vehicle and its wide vision range and ability to scout out concealed enemy positions make it well suited for scouting ahead of a tank force as it advances. It is also advisible to keep some Jeeps in with the tanks since its great all round vision helps to counter the deficiencies in the tank's own vision range. Even better, if an officer is added to the Jeep then he can keep up with the armoured forces, improving their effectivness as they go into battle.

The Bren carrier is being mass produced at British factories across the country. It is able to carry infantry, heavy weapons and pull artillery. Its tracks give it great cross-country performance and allow it to carry armour on the sides. While troops in the back are fairly exposed they also have a good view of their surroundings. It is best used to rapidly deploy riflement to the front lines and then suppport their attacks with its hull mounted machine gun. While it does carry token armour to protect against small arms, it is very vulnerable to high explosives since it lacks a roof. It should be used against infantry and kept away from tanks.

Halftracks are able to cross rough terrain more easily than normal trucks. This allows them to carry more weight than regular trucks without sinking into the mud. The M3 carries light plate armour to protect its passengers and a machinegun to help them against enemy infantry. As an APC is it well suited to storming enemy infantry positions, and as such it carries a squad of SMGs rather than regular infantry.

The M16 is an M3 halftrack with a quad 50cal mounted on the back. It is very effective against low flying enemy aircraft and even more powerful when turned against enemy infantry squads. Its ability to provide cover to armoured forces on the move makes it an invaluable addition to any force, and certainly not something to overlook.

Bulldozers are essential for any large scale construction. Bulldozers are used to build all the buildings in the Allied roster and to keep them repaired and in good working order. While unarmed this role makes them the cornerstone of any war effort. Since they are only produced at the command centre, it is essential to keep spares on hand in case it is destroyed and needs to be rebuilt.
